A Brandon mailing address is not proof of City utility service. Brandon says its utilities cover only part of 39042 and none of 39047. Before sending account documents, confirm the physical service address with Utility Billing at 601-824-4579 or water@brandonms.org. City service-area guidance
Ask which services the City supplies at that address. The answer affects the application and whether a water-meter deposit is due; a sewer-only or garbage-only account is not the same as a water account.
Assemble the application after coverage is confirmed
The City’s billing instructions call for an application, photo ID and ownership or lease documentation identifying the physical address, effective date and relevant names. New-account requirements
Use this document match before submitting:
- Address: Does the application use the actual service location, not only a mailing address?
- Applicant: Do the name and own/rent selection agree with the occupancy documents?
- Date: Is the requested ready date consistent with the effective date shown in those documents?
- Services: Does the request match the services Utility Billing confirmed?
These are LSL cross-checks, not additional City eligibility rules. The two-page application includes applicant fields and separate City-completed account, meter, deposit and work-order fields. Do not fill administrative blanks with assumed values.
The deposit is not an ordinary online bill payment
The billing page lists a $100 deposit per water meter, due with the application, and no deposit for sewer-only or garbage-only service. It says meter deposits must be paid at the office or by U.S. mail, not online. The page’s online bill-payment option does not override that distinction. Deposit instructions
Confirm the payment and submission arrangements with Utility Billing before mailing personal documents. In this review, the application and website displayed different ZIP codes for the P.O. box; LSL has not selected one as the correct mailing address. The form identifies the Public Works office at 1000 Municipal Drive. Application
Requested date versus actual service
The application’s requested-ready date and the City’s Service On Date are separate fields. A submitted form or deposit receipt does not answer whether service has been activated. Keep the requested date, then obtain the City’s actual account/service confirmation before relying on it for a move-in.
For a later leak-related bill issue, use the separate Brandon adjustment guide; starting an account does not establish adjustment eligibility.
LSL compared the live billing instructions with both application pages on September 19, 2026. We checked the address, document, deposit and activation distinctions without applying for service or verifying a household’s provider.
