MDOT currently labels the Jackson-area I-20/I-55 freight corridor “Awarded – In Design.” Its project page leaves construction-begin and substantial-completion dates blank. That is a design-stage record, not confirmation that construction has begun. Current delivery listing Project details

The September 13 proposed letting schedule places the Hinds and Rankin components in September 2026. This replaces the August month recorded in our earlier report. MDOT warns that the schedule changes continuously; it is not a confirmed start date. Proposed schedule

Which roads and project numbers belong together?

The CMGC notice describes connected work on five routes: I-20 between Wiggins Road and east of Pearson Road, I-55 from McDowell Road toward the Pearl River bridges, I-220 toward Lynch Street, US 51 north of I-55, and South Gallatin Street between the I-20 frontage roads. Its map shows approximate limits, not parcel-specific access or closure instructions. CMGC notice and map

The notice discusses possible bridge, pavement and traffic-system improvements. It does not make every listed option a final construction commitment.

For the current proposed letting rows, look for 109486/301000 in Hinds County and 109486/302000 in Rankin County, both under NHPP-0020-01(291). Rankin’s row points to the Hinds component. They are companion records, not two unrelated interstate projects. County components

Source terminology is not fully aligned: that schedule still says “Design Build,” while MDOT’s delivery page identifies Construction Manager/General Contractor, or CMGC. Keep the label with the document that uses it. The older design-build notice’s winter-2023 solicitation language should not describe today’s procurement route. Earlier notice

The selected contractor’s first assignment was preconstruction

MDOT’s selection announcement identifies Yates-Key, a Joint Venture, and reports Commission approval of its selection on January 19, 2026. It expressly limits that selection to CMGC preconstruction services. Selection announcement

The January 27 approved agenda authorizes the contract, effective January 14, with a preconstruction ceiling of $742,511.23. The related preconstruction components end in 101300 and 102300. Both records say adding construction services requires Commission approval. Selection, effective date and the agenda’s authorization date are different entries; none should silently replace another. January agenda, item 10

The joint venture is identified as a public-contract party, not recommended as a contractor. No business supplied this reporting.

June design authorizations: $1,825,982.79, without double-counting

The June 9 agenda separately records three roadway, bridge and utility-engineering actions for 109486-101200 and 102200. LSL added their new authorized amounts, not their revised cumulative totals. June agenda, items 4, 6 and 13

June agenda actionAmount included in this calculation
Item 4: roadway plans and final deliverables$683,137.59
Item 6: bridge plans and final deliverables$867,888.09
Item 13: additional subsurface utility engineering$274,957.11
LSL sum of these three actions$1,825,982.79

Item 13 also gives $564,849.28 as the revised utility-engineering assignment total. Adding that figure as well would count the supplement twice and introduce earlier work into this three-action sum. The roadway and bridge assignments are effective March 16; the utility supplement is effective May 12.

This calculation is not total project cost, construction cost or money already spent. The January preconstruction ceiling is a separate authorization and is not included in this June subtotal.

What to check before planning around construction

Use the project’s document page for the next dated record. A construction-services amendment and its approval would answer a different question from the existing preconstruction selection; a notice to proceed or traffic notice would address work timing and access.

That page also retains a September 15 pre-proposal meeting banner. The linked notice is labeled 2025, not an upcoming September 2026 meeting. The listing’s July 23, 2025 posting date likewise should not be substituted for the January 2026 selection or contract dates.

LSL checked these records on September 13, 2026, read the CMGC notice and map, and reproduced the June subtotal using integer cents. We did not establish a construction-services amendment, construction award price, notice to proceed or lane-closure schedule. The proposed letting month and blank milestone fields remain limited to what their respective sources show.
