Altamonte Springs distinguishes front, side, rear, and corner-lot fence conditions. Classify each proposed fence segment before applying; height alone does not establish the City decision.

Build a segment worksheet

From the survey or accepted property record, label each segment A, B, C, and record its yard relationship, length, proposed height, material, gates, nearby street or corner condition, easements shown, and plan sheet. Ask the City to fill the official yard and corner classifications.

The City FAQ says new and replacement fences need permit review and supplies the local yard distinctions. Do not transfer a rear-yard rule to a corner segment.

Package the intake record

The application checklist identifies owner and applicant fields and calls for three site-plan copies. Confirm whether that copy requirement remains current and whether electronic filing changes the delivery format.

Retain:

  1. jurisdiction confirmation;
  2. current application and checklist;
  3. controlled survey/site plan;
  4. submitted segment worksheet;
  5. portal or counter receipt;
  6. corrections and revised plan;
  7. issued permit and approved plan;
  8. inspections and final status.

Keep private approval separate

If an association or covenant applies, store its response in a private-approval folder. The City permit does not decide private rights, and association approval does not issue the City permit.

Local Service Ledger reviewed the City FAQ, checklist, and portal instructions on August 27, 2026. We did not survey a property, classify a yard, interpret a covenant, file an application, or inspect a fence.
