The application describes the project; the drawings need to show the same project. A room addition missing from the footprint, or a use description that differs between the form and floor plan, is a useful problem to catch before asking Vicksburg to review a residential set.

Make each required subject findable

The City’s plan-review instructions call for two residential sets. They name all four exterior elevations plus detailed foundation, framing and floor plans. The plot information includes setbacks, drainage, finished-floor elevation, erosion control and proposed above-ground accessory uses. Base flood elevation is included when the property is in a special flood hazard area.

Create a short working index beside the drawing set: required subject → sheet/detail identifier → unresolved question. This is LSL’s organizational aid, not another required City form. A document titled “plans” is difficult to check; an index that points to the actual detail makes an omission visible. A blank identifier should prompt a question to the preparer rather than a guess that the subject is covered elsewhere.

List an accessory feature only where it actually belongs in the proposal. Do not invent six trade packages to fill a template or treat this minimum list as a complete design specification. The City says multi-family projects also require a site plan; discuss the actual project rather than assuming every residential scope has identical requirements.

Compare the application with the drawings

The three-page application asks about work type, proposed use, property identity, historic/zoning status and the project description. Its second page has separate flood-map and elevation fields. LSL’s checks below compare those entries with the proposed work; they do not decide what is legally required.

Possible mismatchWhat to compareQuestion before filing
The description says interior alteration, but the drawing expands the buildingWork-type selection, written scope and proposed footprintDoes the application describe the addition shown?
The proposed-use entry and room labels differUse entry and floor-plan labelsAre both documents describing the same intended use?
Flood information has an unexplained number or comes from another propertyAddress/parcel, identified map and the drawing’s elevation informationWhich reliable project-specific record supports this entry?

These are hypothetical discrepancies, not reported local cases. Do not default unknown elevations to zero or equate a base flood elevation with a measured floor elevation. Ask the preparer and City what supporting information is needed.

The form separately directs applicants enlarging a building or changing its use to meet with zoning and/or historic preservation. A checked box is not evidence that this consultation occurred. Its final page is a construction-waste notice, not an additional drawing requirement; read the complete application before signing.

Allow for review comments before planning issuance

The plan page describes a 1–2-day residential review range only when modifications or additional documents are not needed. It does not specify business days or promise a permit within that range. Approval of the complete plans and payment of fees are conditions for receiving a permit.

Use 601-634-4528 for project-specific plan questions and to confirm where to visit. Later inspection results are a separate task, covered in finding missing Vicksburg closeout evidence.

Checked September 12, 2026: current City plan instructions and all three scanned application pages. No visible application revision date was established. This review did not examine private plans, calculate elevations, submit an application or obtain a City decision. It applies to City-reviewed projects, not every Warren County address.

Consolidation note: “Vicksburg residential plans: six service scopes mapped” now redirects here. Its overlapping ledger offered no distinct verified trade-specific requirement; this guide preserves the useful plan/application comparison without duplicating the story.
