Separate the older narrative from the dated change

The utility page still contains a general statement that homeowners handle service wires to homes. But it also links a June 23, 2022 announcement explaining that the Commission approved residential service-line undergrounding when City crews carry out scheduled area projects. That supports asking how the change applies to your project. It does not prove that any specific home is scheduled, that private work is reimbursable or that every electrical component is included.

Ask which line and which project

Use a marked-up proposal or simple sketch to keep these questions separate:

  • What is the City project name or identifier for the area?
  • Does its scope include the residential service line to this property?
  • Which work, if any, remains the owner’s responsibility?
  • What coordination is needed before private work begins?
  • Is there a dated schedule or written scope confirmation?

Keep the City’s answer with any private estimate. If the two scopes overlap or leave a gap, resolve it before authorizing the private work.

Treat the map as a planning source

The utility page says project timelines may shift and that the undergrounding map is updated twice yearly. Our text retrieval of the linked map did not expose project details, so we did not verify a street or parcel schedule.

Historic completion figures in the 2022 announcement are not current progress measurements. Nor does a citywide target establish the installation date for one home.
