Clearwater’s library can lend tools for a home project, but the checkout is personal: the person borrowing a tool must also be its user. Do not borrow one on your card for a visiting contractor, neighbor or relative to operate. The library’s policy requires an adult borrower, a confirmed card and a signed release. Lending policy
Plan the job around the loan
Before reserving other parts of a project, make a short equipment plan:
| Planning question | What to settle before checkout |
|---|---|
| Who will actually operate it? | That person must qualify as the borrower. |
| Which item fits the task? | Ask the branch about its current item and accessories; do not assume a pictured category means stock. |
| Can you use it competently? | Arrange suitable instruction elsewhere if needed; the library says staff do not explain operation. |
| When will the work and cleanup finish? | Leave time before the assigned return deadline. |
| Where will it go back? | The location where it was checked out, not whichever branch is convenient afterward. |
The ordinary Thingamabrary lending period is seven days, with a different rule for hotspots. Read the actual checkout record; a project’s delay does not change its due date. Collection rules
Check condition twice
At pickup, compare the item and included pieces with the checkout description. Note existing damage with staff before leaving. On return, use the same list to avoid losing an accessory in project debris.
The linked release says to stop using an unsafe or damaged item and notify the library. It also makes borrowers responsible for specified loss, damage and condition costs. A free loan is therefore not a promise of zero financial responsibility. Use policy, reviewed June 2022
This is a borrowing plan, not permission to perform regulated work or instructions for operating an unfamiliar tool.

Local Service Ledger checked the cited institutional records on September 7, 2026 and assembled the reader worksheet above. Compare the library lending policy with its release form to build a borrower, user, due-date and defect-stop plan. No interview, site visit or individual service transaction was conducted.
