If a Pasco permit search seems empty or incomplete, first check which part of the portal holds the record. PascoGateway distinguishes current online building applications from older paper applications; the same address can also have more than one permit. A search result is a starting point, not proof of permission or completion.

Building versus Permits: the first search distinction

The PascoGateway landing page says residential and commercial applications are submitted online under Building, with an account required to apply. Previously submitted paper applications and plans can be found under Permits. It provides separate search links for those sections.

Before concluding that a project has no permit, check the exact permit number, address and issuing authority. A municipal permit may belong to a different office. An older paper record may not be where a newer online application appears. Anonymous users have limited services; an account gives additional functions but is not itself a permit.

Match the result to the question

Your questionEvidence to ask forWhat does not answer it by itself
Was an application submitted? The application identifier and described scopeA contractor’s portal registration
Was the work authorized? The issued permit and applicable approved documentsA fee receipt or submitted application
Did a required inspection pass? That inspection’s result and commentsIts scheduled date or a different trade’s pass
Is this permit finished?Final status and any applicable completion recordAn isolated result or the absence of recent activity

These are LSL’s evidence distinctions, not a dictionary of every Pasco status code. The public landing page does not define a universal meaning for every status a reader may encounter. Ask the County to explain an ambiguous label using the permit number rather than guessing from the word alone.

If the record is expired or still open

Building Construction Services publishes a route to request extension or expired-permit closeout. Its FAQ asks for the circumstances causing delay, address, permit number and the date the applicant will be ready for final inspection or property closing. It directs the request to inspectionschedulers@mypasco.net and distinguishes a company’s notarized letterhead letter from a homeowner’s formal PDF letter.

The County says it will respond after review by the Deputy Building Official. Sending the request is not approval or renewal. Confirm the current requirements for the permit; this article does not calculate an expiry date from an old page or promise that an expired permit can be closed without further work.

For routing help, the Building Construction page lists 727-847-8126, option 5. PascoGateway also warns that staff do not request credit-card numbers by phone. Do not disclose payment information to an unsolicited caller claiming to resolve the record.

What was checked

LSL read the public portal landing and Building Construction page on September 21, 2026. No address search, private record, account, payment or closeout request was submitted. This cross-trade resource has moved from painting to general guides; its value is the old/new record distinction and precise questions for unresolved status, not a claimed audit of any homeowner’s permit.
