For Tampa’s stormwater mitigation program, a condominium belongs in the non-single-family group even though people live there. That distinction matters because the City requires existing credits in that group to be recertified every five years. Existing single-family credits do not require the same renewal. Classification and renewal rules
Find the classification and the award date
An owner or association preparing a renewal check should bring together:
- the tax parcel or folio identifying the credited property;
- the property classification used by the program;
- the record showing when the mitigation credit was applied; and
- any earlier recertification correspondence.
Ask the Stormwater Assessment team to confirm the due date if the award history is incomplete. The City publishes 813-274-8386 and stormwatermitigation@tampagov.net for that question.
A building’s everyday description—“residential,” for example—does not replace the program classification.
Do not substitute the new-application deadline
The online application says a complete package is needed before March 1 for the next billing year. That is a different timing question from a five-year recertification measured from an existing credit. Application instructions
Our renewal check is therefore: identify the parcel → confirm classification → locate the credit’s start date → obtain the applicable renewal instruction. It does not calculate a credit or certify a stormwater facility.
For proposed changes to the property or its drainage, ask what supporting technical documentation is needed before commissioning work. A prior bill reduction does not establish eligibility for a different parcel or altered system, and this guide does not promise an award.
