Warren County’s US 61 overlay and Redwood retaining-wall project has moved beyond the advertisement described in our August report. The Mississippi Transportation Commission’s approved September 8, 2026 agenda, item 11, directs awards according to the August 25 letting recommendations. That is an award-stage record, not a notice that construction or lane closures have begun. The records reviewed here do not establish a notice to proceed or a current traffic schedule.
The two jobs in Call 03
The advertised scope combines approximately 11 miles of US 61 milling and overlay with reconstruction of a retaining wall south of Redwood. The roadway limits run from 0.5 mile north of the US 80/SR 27 intersection to 0.36 mile north of SR 465 at Redwood. August 25 advertisement

The bid tables shorten the project-phase numbers to 108212301 and 109575301. Keep both identifiers when asking MDOT about the combined work. The dollar amount below is for the combined call, not a separately priced wall or a per-mile paving rate.
Three bids against the revised estimate

LSL reproduced the comparison: $12,178,841.45 − $11,212,013.36 = $966,828.09, or 8.62% above the estimate, rounded to two decimal places. This agrees with Exhibit B. It compares the lowest listed bid with MDOT’s estimate; it is not final expenditure, a market price survey or evidence of a cost overrun during construction.
How the June record fits
The June 5 advertisement already listed the overlay project, 108212301, with the same approximate corridor limits. The August 25 Call 03 paired that overlay with the retaining wall. These two appearances are part of one project’s record history, not two separate eleven-mile paving projects. The reviewed records do not explain why the earlier advertisement was followed by the combined call. June advertisement
An older wall record has a different phase suffix: the FY 2025 annual report, PDF page 119, lists 109575/101000 as engineering work to investigate the retaining wall, install instrumentation and recommend repairs. That is distinct from the 301000 construction phase in the letting. Do not add its expenditure to the bid total and call the sum a contract value. Engineering-phase record
Checking work-zone information
For a travel or access question, give MDOT the route, Warren County and both Call 03 identifiers, then ask for the applicable current traffic notice. Use the Commission record page for later decisions, not as a substitute for a work-zone notice. This report does not identify affected parcels or tell drivers which lanes are open.
